Pyrolytic Graphite Disc, Substrate Nucleated Description
Pyrolytic Graphite (Substrate Nucleation) Discs are manufactured by decomposing hydrocarbon gases at extremely high temperatures in a vacuum furnace. The resulting product is ultrapure close to the theoretical density and extremely anisotropic.
The material grows on the substrate, forming a layered composition. This also means that it has different properties in different planes. In the C-plane (across layers), it has lower thermal conductivity and acts as an insulator. In the A-B plane (with its layers) it has a very high thermal conductivity, acting as an excellent conductor.
