Bubble Alumina Description

Bubble Alumina is created through the atomization of melted high-purity alumina, resulting in the formation of hollow spheres. These unique hollow structures give Bubble Alumina its characteristic properties of low thermal conductivity and low bulk density. In fact, Bubble Alumina has twice the bulk density of premium-grade alumina fiber insulation. Its structure primarily consists of closed air-filled thin-walled cells, providing exceptional hot strength and minimal thermal conductivity.

Bubble Alumina is an ideal choice for high-temperature thermal insulation in structural applications where insulation performance is critical and cannot be compromised. It can withstand temperatures as high as 1825°C. Additionally, Bubble Alumina is pre-fired, free from organic materials, and exhibits excellent microwave and RF transparency. With its high alumina content, it is compatible with various extreme chemical environments, further enhancing its versatility.

Bubble Alumina Applications

1. High-Temperature Insulation: Used as an insulating material in furnaces, kilns, and other high-temperature industrial equipment. Its low thermal conductivity and high melting point make it ideal for thermal insulation in environments exceeding 1800°C (3272°F).

2. Refractory Materials: Incorporated into refractory bricks, castables, and shapes used in metallurgical, ceramic, and glass industries. It enhances thermal stability and reduces the weight of refractory products while maintaining structural integrity under high temperatures.

3. Lightweight Aggregates: Employed as lightweight aggregates in the construction of heat-resistant and insulating concrete. This application benefits from its low density and excellent thermal insulation properties.

4. Filtration: Used in filtration applications, particularly in high-temperature gas filtration and molten metal filtration. Its high thermal resistance and chemical inertness ensure durability and effectiveness in removing impurities.

5. Catalyst Carriers: Utilized as a support material for catalysts in chemical reactions that occur at high temperatures. Its large surface area, thermal stability, and chemical inertness make it an excellent choice for catalytic processes.

6. Ceramic Applications: Integrated into ceramic products to improve thermal shock resistance and reduce weight. Bubble alumina can be used in advanced ceramics, kiln furniture, and other ceramic components.

7. Aerospace and Defense: Applied in aerospace and defense industries for heat shields, thermal barriers, and lightweight structural components due to its high strength-to-weight ratio and thermal insulation properties.

8. Energy Sector: Used in high-temperature insulation for energy-efficient systems, such as in the insulation of pipes and vessels in power plants and petrochemical industries, to improve energy conservation and operational efficiency.

9. Laboratory Equipment: Incorporated into laboratory furnaces, crucibles, and other high-temperature apparatus where excellent thermal insulation and chemical stability are required.
