Silicon Monoxide (OSi) Description:

Silicon Monoxide (OSi) (CAS: 10097-28-6) is an inorganic compound with a melting point of 1702°C, a boiling point of 1880°C, and a density of 2.13g/cm³. It is hardly soluble in water, soluble in the mixed acid of dilute hydrofluoric acid and nitric acid and releases silicon tetrafluoride. When heated in the air, it produces white silica powder. Silicon monoxide is not very stable and will oxidize to silicon dioxide in the air.
