Co: Spinel Description
Co: Spinel allows the generation of short nanosecond pulses with peak power near an eye-safe wavelength of 1.5um, making it ideal for telemetry applications. Co2+ doped MgAl2O4 has a wide absorption spectrum in the wavelength range of 1200 ~ 1600nm, indicating that Co2+ ions replace the tetrahedral coordination of Mg2+ ions in the lattice of MgAl2O4. Passive Q-switching of solid-state saturable absorber lasers is a very attractive q-switching technology because it can lead to the development of compact, low-cost nanosecond and nanosecond pulsed laser sources with a wide range of applications.
