PETE Hydrophilic Orbital Etched Membrane Description

PETE Hydrophilic Orbital Etched Membrane is made from high-density, solvent-resistant polyester film. It is ideal for blood testing or general filtration and is suitable for chemically aggressive solvents. The membrane is produced through a two-step proprietary manufacturing process. In the first step, the polyester film is exposed to ionic particles that pass through the film. As ions pass through the film, they create "tracks" where the polymer is damaged. The excited film is exposed to a chemical solution, which etches tracks to form precise cylindrical holes. Pore density is controlled by the number of tracks per unit area, and pore size is controlled by varying the temperature, intensity, and time of exposure to the etching solution. This unique process allows increased control of pore size and density to ensure that the physical properties of each membrane exactly match your requirements.

The resulting membrane is a thin, translucent polyester film with a smooth, flat surface that contains a controlled diameter and number of pores. The membrane has better solvent resistance than polycarbonate PCTE and captures all particles larger than the pore size on its surface.
