Silicon Nitride Bonded Silicon Carbide (NBSC) Description
Silicon Nitrogen Bonded Silicon Carbide (NBSC) is produced by firing a mixture of high-purity silicon carbide and silicon or mineral additives in a nitrogen atmosphere. The material is well-known for its excellent wear resistance, corrosion and thermal shock resistance, even at high temperatures. NBSC also possesses ideal refractory and chemical properties. NBSC resists wetting by non-ferrous metals. It is a semiconductor at high temperatures.

Silicon Nitride Bonded Silicon Carbide (NBSC) Application
Silicon Nitride Bonded Silicon Carbide (Si3N4-SiC) is a composite material known for its exceptional properties, combining the high strength, thermal stability, and wear resistance of silicon carbide with the excellent bonding properties of silicon nitride. This combination makes it highly suitable for a wide range of demanding applications. In refractory applications, it is used in furnace linings and kiln furniture due to its outstanding thermal shock resistance and resistance to oxidation and chemical attack. It serves as a thermocouple protection tube in high-temperature environments, ensuring accurate temperature measurement and prolonged thermocouple life. In industries prone to wear and abrasion, such as mining and power generation, Si3N4-SiC components offer superior wear resistance, reducing maintenance costs and downtime. Additionally, it finds use in heat exchangers, combustion chambers, mechanical seals, and structural components requiring high-temperature stability and mechanical strength. Overall, Si3N4-SiC provides reliable performance and extended service life in challenging industrial environments where thermal stability, mechanical strength, and wear resistance are crucial.
