KDP Pockels Cells are used for Q-switching applications with wavelengths from the UV to approximately 1.1 µm. Beyond 1.1 µm, absorption limits the use of KDP in active cavities, unless the application can tolerate a few percent of absorption.
KDP crystal has a low optical loss, high extinction ratio, and good electro-optical performance. Usually, KDP with a deuterium content of more than 98% is used to make electro-optical Q-switched by its longitudinal effect, which is suitable for pulsed solid-state lasers, usually used in low repetition rate in the fields of laser beauty and laser medical treatment under frequency conditions.
