Incoloy 800 (Alloy 800, UNS N08800) Wire Description:

Incoloy alloy is also a range of superalloys produced by Special Metals Corporation. They are nickel-iron-chromium alloys that are used for applications that require high corrosion resistance and high-temperature strength. Incoloy alloys are quite similar to Inconel alloys but their different composition makes some distinctions in their applications.
Incoloy alloy 800 is an alloy of nickel, iron, and chromium. The alloy is capable of remaining stable and maintaining its austenitic structure. Incoloy 800 is primarily used in applications with temperatures up to 1100° F, where alloys 800H and 800HT are normally used in temperatures above 1100° F where resistance to creep and rupture is required. Alloys 800H/HT is used in a variety of applications involving exposure to corrosive environments and high temperatures such as heat treating equipment, chemical and petrochemical processing, nuclear power plants and the paper pulp industry.

FAQs

Q1: What are the main applications of Incoloy 800 Wire?

Incoloy 800 Wire is widely used in industries and applications where high strength and resistance to oxidation are essential, such as:

  • Heat Exchangers: For handling high-temperature fluids and gases.
  • Furnace Components: In industrial furnaces, for components like burner tips, thermocouple sheaths, and combustion chambers.
  • Nuclear Power: For reactor core components, as well as heat exchangers in nuclear reactors.

Q2: What is Incoloy 800 Wire?

Incoloy 800 Wire is a high-strength, corrosion-resistant alloy made from nickel, iron, and chromium. It is designed to perform in high-temperature and oxidative environments. This alloy is primarily used in applications where good mechanical strength and resistance to oxidation and carburization are required. UNS N08800 refers to the standardized specification for Incoloy 800.

Q3: How should Incoloy 800 Wire be stored?

Incoloy 800 Wire should be stored in a dry, clean environment to avoid surface contamination or oxidation. It is also recommended to store the wire in sealed packaging to prevent exposure to moisture, which could affect its properties.
