Bismuth Metal Pellets Description

Bismuth is a silvery, crystalline, brittle metal when freshly produced and it often presents a pinkish tinge in the air. Bismuth is the most diamagnetic element, and its thermal conductivity is lower than any metal except mercury. Bismuth metal pellets have high electrical resistance and the highest Hall coefficient.

Bismuth Metal Pellets Applications

1. Pharmaceuticals: Bismuth is commonly used in pharmaceutical formulations such as stomach medications (e.g. antacids) and bismuth subsalicylate, which is an active ingredient in medicines used for treating diarrhea and other gastrointestinal disorders.

2. Alloys: Bismuth-based alloys are used in various applications, especially in the automotive industry. Bismuth alloys with tin, lead, or cadmium are used as low-melting-point solders, which are employed in electronic components, plumbing, and soldering electronic circuit boards.

3. Nuclear industry: Bismuth metal can be used as a neutron absorber in nuclear reactors to control the rate of nuclear fission reactions and prevent overheating or meltdown.

4. Thermoelectric materials: Bismuth metal and its alloys have excellent thermoelectric properties, making them suitable for the production of thermoelectric materials used in power generation or cooling devices.

5. Fire detection systems: Bismuth metal pellets are utilized in fire detection systems as the "fusible link" in some sprinkler heads. These pellets have a low melting point, and when exposed to high temperatures, they melt and trigger the sprinkler system.
